Accidents are called as such because they happen to people when they least expect it. Thus, the best advice to give is to be always prepared for the inevitable to make its effects less serious and more manageable.Being prepared for an accident means having a first aid kit in places or areas where you or your family usually stays. You can choose to buy the items all at one time or you can acquire them in batches. Later on, you will be able to build a suitable first aid kit,The basic medical supplies for minor medical emergencies are cotton, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol and bandages. For general requirements around the house or when going camping, you need an insect repellant, aloe vera cream or gel for sunburns, pain relievers, basic medicines for head and stomach aches, diarrhea or irregular bowel movements and your doctors number .A family that usually goes on picnics or go traveling using the family car or recreational vehicle should carry with them a first aid kit. The first aid kit for travelers should be waterproof, easy to access and the medicines are easily identifiable. Since it will be used for travel, the first aid kit should be light and easy to carry. It would be an advantage it the first aid kit has compartmentalized pockets and the latter have the names of the items inside the pockets.Always keep your "first aid kits" clean and the medicines updated. It would be better if you can make an outline or a list of the contents of your first aid kit so that you will be able to know in a glance what you have inside. Also take note of the expiration dates of the medicines you have in your first aid kits to avoid giving expired medicines to person who are already medically in danger. When preparing your first aid kit, always consider the needs of family members, particularly hose who have special medical needs or who have allergies to specific medicines.

Alzheimer's disease is becoming tragically common.Over 12 million people worldwide suffer from Alzheimer's disease. The direct and indirect cost of caring for Alzheimer's victims in the United States alone is more than $100 billion a year. With these startling statistics, can anything be done to save our brains from this horrific deterioration? Will more seniors be able to avoid falling victim to Alzheimer's as the elderly population increases? Are we finally getting close to a cure? The conventional medical approach is limited to pain relief and controlling some of the related symptoms by using expensive prescription drugs riddled with side effects. But in reality, extensive research reveals that proliferation of Alzheimers disease in society is a direct manifestation of our changed lifestyles. When people around the world experience similar problems, it's not a random incident but a methodical process spreading across cultures and borders. You see, our lifestyle choices have gotten us into this mess. We need to make the right choices to get us out.The fact is the exponential increase in Alzheimers disease is really the result of the way our lives have changed. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD does not have any cure. But with the help of medicines and cessation of smoking, it can be kept under control. Different types of medicines cure different types of symptoms. Mucus, breathlessness, cough and fatigue are all the symptoms of COPD. Based on the intensity of the particular symptom and the prescription given by your doctor, you can use one or more than five types of medicines available to keep COPD under control.Bronchodilators help ease breathing. The medicine in a bronchodilator opens up the airways of your lungs and eases breathing. Oxygen therapy is suggested if it is becoming difficult for your body to get enough oxygen into your bloodstream. Oxygen therapy lessens breathlessness and improves physical stamina in patients suffering from COPD. COPD patients often suffer bacterial inflections that can cause severe flare-ups in the lungs. In such cases, antibiotics are used to kill the bacteria. Different antibiotics such as Cipro, Amoxil, Septra, etc., kill different bacteria. Sometimes, because of extreme flare-ups in the lungs, a COPD patient may experience flu and pneumonia. Here, vaccines are given to decrease the intensity of the symptom. Some COPD patients experience severe cough and inflammation in the lungs. These patients are prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs. These medicines are usually in the form of corticosteroids. Anti-inflammatory medicines reduce cough and inflammation in the airways of the lungs. Usually, the patient inhales them. Although corticosteroids are primarily given to asthma patients, they can also help those COPD patients suffering from severe cough and inflammation in the lungs.Based on the symptoms and the individual reactions to the medicines, doctors prescribe various medicines. But all COPD patients should take some precautions while they use these medicines. Taking the medicines as directed, not stopping them without consulting the doctor, not sharing the medicines with other patients, planning for the refills well ahead of time and being well aware of the effects and side effects of a medicine before you start taking them etc., can be extremely beneficial in containing the symptoms of COPD.Contact your physician if you experience any side effects from these medicines. They can be increased shortness of breath, allergic reactions, prolonged nausea, vomiting, prolonged muscle cramps, or heart palpitations, white spots in the mouth and vaginal itching.
